Apostolos Pourtsidis is President of the Hellenic Society of Pediatric Hematology - Oncology (HeSPHO), a Member of the SIOPE Clinical Research Council (CRC), a Collaborating member of Expo-R-Net SIOPE and a Collaborating member of EXPERT group for very rare tumors in children and adolescents.

He obtained his medical degree from the University of Athens, medical school, Athens, Greece in 1978. He completed his residency in General Pediatrics (1983-1987) at Children's Saint Sofia Hospital, University of Athens Medical School, Athens, Greece. He was a Research fellow at the department of Pediatrics, at Kaplan Hospital, affiliated to the medical School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem – Hadassah, 1988.

Appointments: in Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital, Athens, Greece, in the Oncology Department, Registrar in NHS from 1988 to 1998, a Senior Registrar in NHS, from 1998 to 2006, a Vice Chairman in NHS from 2006 until 2010 and a Chairman in NHS from 2010 until 2017.

He completed his Medical Degree in the Medical School of University of Athens in 1978. He was Board Certified in Pediatrics in Athens Greece in 1987 and he obtained his PhD in the Medical School of University of Athens in 2000.
