Dr Sofia Baka MD, MSc, PhD, Medical Oncologist, Interbalcan Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece
Dr Baka is Consultant, Medical Oncologist and works at the Interbalcan Medical Center of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is the Scientific Director of the Clinical Research Unit (Interbalkan Medical Center).
She studied Μedicine in the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and graduated in 1993, and completed her Specialist Training in Internal Medicine in 2001, at the Hippocration University Hospital of Thessaloniki.
Dr Baka obtained a PhD, from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Medical School), working on lung cancer immunotherapy. She succeeded for the Greek State Foundation Scholarship for lung cancer immunotherapy and has worked on that, at the Christie Hospital-Center of Excellence in Manchester. Dr Baka has worked as Clinical Research Registrar at the Derek Crowther Clinical Trial Unit/Paterson Institute and Specialist Registrar in Medical Oncology, for 6 years, at the Christie Hospital in Manchester and completed her Specialist Training in Oncology (CCST). Dr Baka holds the European Certification in Medical Oncology since 2005. She has attended the Master Course in Oncology, University of Manchester, Master Level Course in Research Methodology and she has obtained Master Degree in Health Service Management (University of Manchester). She is the author of 2 book chapters and several papers (63) in major scientific medical journals and she is reviewer in 5 international journals. Dr Baka has participated as Principal and Co-Investigator in several clinical trials. She is full member of the ESMO, HESMO, BINO, IASLC Societies.
